The implementation of the Collection in the TCG is coming. Players and collectors will be able to manage their cards and complete their collection with ease, like flipping through a real grimoire.
Collection & Crafting Rework

Contexte

In this article, you will discover a brand-new experience in collection management and crafting. These changes have been designed to make card acquisition smoother and more accessible to all players. The process has been simplified, reducing by half the number of boosters and boxes needed to complete a collection, while allowing for more crafting thanks to better optimization and reuse of your resources. The new system, therefore, brings balance and flexibility.

Crafting has also been revamped to be more accessible, whether itโ€™s for Static or Eternal cards. Players can now manage their collection effortlessly, choosing to keep or shred cards based on their needs, while maximizing the value of each purchase.

These adjustments make the gameplay experience more intuitive, while offering additional opportunities for those who are regularly engaged in the game. They perfectly cater to the needs of current players and newcomers alike, enhancing enjoyment and progression for everyone, bridging the gap between traditional gaming and Web3.

Collection & Crafting

Today, in the collectible card game, the TCG features more than 500 cards, ranging from Common to Mythic, revealed through the in-game Collection. More than half of these cards can be discovered through crafting, which will be directly integrated and revamped for a complete player experience. Here are the key rules of crafting in Cross The Ages. โš’๏ธ

Crafting Assets ๐Ÿงฉ

It is possible to upgrade your Cross The Ages cards by using stones and the corresponding in-game currency with the Shred mechanic. Below, youโ€™ll discover the different steps and how the crafting of your Static and Eternal cards works.

Shred

The Shred system allows you to destroy a card and recover resources to craft other cards, enabling a much more flexible and simplified way to manage your collection with a single process for both Static and Eternal cards. Whether you have Standards in the process of being powered up, alternatives, or combos, you can shred and recraft more easily!

Soft currencies ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Soft currencies: Ark et Trisel

Ark

The Ark is the currency for free-to-play players. It can be earned by completing various daily and weekly missions in the game, winning duels, dungeons, raids, discovering the lore of cards, through the shop, and in many other ways.

Trisel

Trisel is obtained by winning duels against top players in Ranked mode and during raids. When you shred your cards, you recover 20% of what was initially used to create that same card.

  • Example: It takes 7,000 Trisels to craft a Mythic Alt Eternal card. By using the shredder, you will recover 1,400 Trisels.

Key point: A shredded Static card will yield Ark, while an Eternal or Flex card will yield Trisel.

Stones ๐Ÿชจ

There are two types of stones: Static Stones and Eternal Stones. Do you prefer to stay in traditional gaming with Static assets, or do you want to transition into the blockchain world and own your Eternal assets?

Static Stones and Eternal Stones

Key Points:

โ–ถ๏ธ Stones are obtained by shredding cards using the Shred tool:

  • Static cards generate Static Stones
  • Eternal or Flex cards generate Eternal Stones
  • To avoid additional costs for crafting Eternal cards, Eternal Stones are not NFTs and cannot be minted.

โ–ถ๏ธ Exclusive and Unique cards cannot be shredded to create stones.

โ–ถ๏ธ The number of stones obtained varies depending on the type of card, its advancement level, and its rarity (you can find the table at the end of the article).

โ–ถ๏ธ Foil cards, when shredded, yield twice as many stones as non-foil cards. The amount of Ark/Trisel remains the same.

โ–ถ๏ธ To upgrade your cards in crafting, the stones used can come from any card rarity, whether Common or Mythic. You simply need to shred enough cards to gather the desired number of stones.

Previous Seasons' Bonuses

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Starting from September 25, 2024 (until January 1, 2025), the stone bonus per shred and the associated crafting cost in stones are as follows:

โ–ถ๏ธ x2 for S01-Arkhante:

  • Stone cost applies only for Power up; the Awakening and Fusion costs will start on January 1, 2025.
  • Shred x2 applies only to cards up to R5. Shredding Alternative or Combo cards will yield the same amount as R5 cards. (other bonuses still applies)

โ–ถ๏ธ x1 for S02-Mantris-WD:

  • Stone cost applies only for Power Up; the Awakening and Fusion costs will start on January 1, 2025.
  • Shred x1 applies only to cards up to R5. Shredding Alternative or Combo cards will yield the same amount as R5 cards.ย (other bonuses still applies)

โ–ถ๏ธ x1 for S03-Rift:

  • Stone cost follows the new rules.
  • Shred follows the new rules.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Starting from January 1, 2025, the stone bonus per shred and the crafting cost in stones are as follows:

  • x3 for S01-Arkhante
  • x2 for S02-Mantris-WD
  • x1 for S03-Rift

โ–ถ๏ธ The multiplier applies only to stones and does not affect Ark or Trisel.

โ–ถ๏ธ At the end of each expansion, older expansions benefit from an additional multiplier, up to a maximum of x3.

โ–ถ๏ธ The table at the end of the article applies to the current season, with a multiplier of x1.

Convert ๐Ÿ”„

A choice has to be made!

Do you want to become the owner of your cards to trade, sell, rent, and moreโ€ฆ or continue as a free-to-play player? The Convert tool allows you to make this decision. It is the first step before starting the evolution of your cards.

If you wish to own your own in-game assets, the Flex cards obtained in the shop or as leaderboard rewards must be converted into the Eternal format. If you prefer to stick with traditional gaming, Flex cards will be converted into Static cards.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Converting a Flex card into an Eternal one includes a minting cost of $1 in CTA tokens.

All crafting steps will be carried out in the chosen format. This choice is irreversible. The TCG is therefore accessible in Free-to-Play mode and evolves into Play-and-Earn.

Note that:

  • Static cards cannot be traded or sold.
  • Eternal cards can be sold and traded on the Cross The Ages marketplace. They are your property and also allow you to claim physical card collections.

Now that youโ€™ve made the choice between Static and Eternal, here are the 3 crafting steps to follow to become the master of the board.

3 Card Levels ๐Ÿƒ - 3 Stepsย ๐Ÿชœ

Step 1: Power up ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Powering up involves strengthening a standard card, which has 5 ranks. Each rank provides useful bonuses for deck building. Rank 5 is crucial as it allows the card to be transformed into an alternative form in the second step, Awakening.

Resources needed to power up a card:

  • Static Card: Static Stones + Ark
  • Eternal Card: Eternal Stones + Trisel
Step 1: Power up

Example: To bring the Eternal Mythic Pollen card to Rank 5 (R5), you need 300 Eternal Stones and 2,000 Trisels.

Note that:

  • Flex cards cannot be powered up without going through the conversion process.
  • Powering up keeps the card in standard mode.
  • The distinctions between "pure" and "impure" cards no longer exist. All cards now share the same characteristics.
  • The cost varies depending on the card (see the final table for details).๐Ÿ‘‡
separator image

Step 2: Awakening ๐ŸŒŸ

Awakening allows a Rank 5 standard card to evolve into its alternative, more powerful form. Alternative cards are graded with the following drop rates: C (70%), B (22%), A (7%) et S (1%), cette derniรจre รฉtant la plus rare et puissante.

Resources needed to awaken a card:

  • Static Card: Static Stones + Ark
  • Eternal Card: Eternal Stones + Trisel
Step 2, awakening

Example: Awakening the Rank 5 Eternal Pollen card into its alternative form costs 450 Eternal Stones and 5,000 Trisels.

Note that:

  • Awakening creates a new alternative card with a new artwork, and the standard card is destroyed in the process.
  • The cost varies depending on the card (see the final table for details).๐Ÿ‘‡
separator image

Step 3: Merge ๐Ÿš€

Merging allows you to combine at least two alternative cards to create a combo version of the card. The grade probabilities (C, B, A, or S) depend on the cards used:

  • When merging two grade C cards, the chances are: C (70%), B (22%), A (7%), S (1%).
  • If you merge two grade B cards, you cannot obtain a grade C card.
  • Merging two grade S cards automatically results in a grade S card.
  • When merging cards of different grades, the chances are adjusted based on the grades being merged.

Resources needed to merge cards:

  • Static Cards: Alternative Static Card + Static Stones + Ark
  • Eternal Cards: Alternative Eternal Card + Eternal Stones + Trisel
Step 3, merge

Example: The fusion of Pollen and Ravix Rare costs 530 Eternal Stones and 7,000 Trisels.

Note that:

  • Fusion creates a new combo card with a new artwork, and the cards used in the process are destroyed.
  • The cost varies depending on the cards (see the final table for details). ๐Ÿ‘‡

Summary: Here are all the costs in stones and currency required to evolve cards, from power up to fusion.

Forge ๐Ÿ”จ

The forge allows you to create new Rank 1 standard cards in exchange for 50 Static Stones. If you add 1 Flex roll, you will receive a Flex card instead of a Static card.

Note that:

  • Eternal Stones cannot be used in the forge.
  • The generated cards belong to the current collection and can come in different rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra-Rare, or Mythic, with a 10% chance to get a foil card.

Probabilities based on card type:

  • Static Card: C 70% / UC 22% / R 7.5% / UR 0.4% / M 0.1%
  • Flex Card: C 58.75% / UC 30% / R 9.17% / UR 1.67% / M 0.42%

The Flex roll is obtained as a reward in Ranked mode or through the VIP program.

Key Points

Cost of a Complete Standard Collection

Previously, it took an average of 40 to 50 Chests of 24 booster packs in Flex to obtain all the cards in a standard collection from the in-game shop (without considering bonuses). Now, only 20 to 25 Chests of 24 booster packs are needed, significantly reducing the cost of completing a standard collection from the shop.

Reusable Resources

With the Shred system, it's now possible to recover a portion of the resources already invested in alternative cards. This allows players to craft more with the same investment. The cost of stones for the awakening and fusion steps has been added since stones are much more accessible than duplicate cards.

  • Simplification of Crafting: A unified rule has been implemented to make Power-ups more accessible for both Static and Eternal cards.
  • Simplified Collection Management: You can choose to keep or recycle (shred) any card, regardless of its rarity.
  • Balanced Rarities: No more surplus Common (C), Uncommon (UC), or Rare (R) cards that end up unused in Static after minting.
  • Optimized Recycling: You can shred your alternative and combo cards to speed up your new crafts.
  • Advantage for Active Players: Players who craft before the end of the season receive x2 or x3 Stones for their future crafts without affecting the current season's requirements. Regular, active players are rewarded.

Benefits for early Players (OG)

  • Ogโ€™s players have more cards from the Arkhante and Mantris collections, allowing them to effectively use the x2/x3 system to craft new Rift cards. Those who have invested heavily in the past will have to invest less in the future.

This new system makes card acquisition simpler, more affordable, and better suited to players, while rewarding those who actively participate.

Implementing Changes

To help early players optimize their investment, we are extending the old crafting cost conditions until January 1, 2025:ย

  • Shred will be available from September 25, with x2 stone bonuses for S01-Arkhante, x1 for S02-Mantris-WD, and x1 for S03-Rift.
  • Additional crafting costs for stones in awakening and merging (due to their easier acquisition as detailed above) will come into effect from January 1, 2025, for the S01-Arkhante and S02-Mantris-WD collections. Power-up costs will remain unchanged from the old Crafting system.
  • The purity bonus for cards crafted before this overhaul remains active.
  • A 50% Trisel bonus is active from September 25, 2024 until the crafting/combo patch (mid-October), and then 25% until November 25, 2024.
