Events in Asia
September was marked by our team's strong presence in Asia, with participation in major events such as Korea Blockchain Week (KBW), Token 2049 in Singapore, WebX Asia, and the Tokyo Game Show (TGS). These participations were aimed at opening new markets and establishing strategic partnerships to increase the influence of our game in Asia.
At TGS, the focus was on Arise, with a playable demo of the TCG on six computers and eight tablets. The booth was a huge success, attracting nearly 3,000 people to try out Arise. Feedback was very positive, with a score of 8.86/10 for gameplay, graphics, and overall experience.
We also took the opportunity to announce our strategic partnership with DMM.com, one of Japan's largest video game distributors. This partnership strengthens our presence in Asia and paves the way for expansion into South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia.
Richard Esteve's departure & internal restructuring
A major change within our organization is the departure of Richard Esteve from his role as COO, which is now being assumed by Anthony. Richard will devote his full attention to Data Factory and CTA Factory, key elements in the development of CTA's land capabilities.
This reorganization allows for greater role specialization: Anthony will focus on operations, while Quentin, as CTO, will assume his technical responsibilities, in particular the development of the Nexus hub responsible for the interoperability of all our products (TCG, Arise, Portal and others to come).
Presale of S3 packs & Token strategy
Presale of Season 3 packs sold 8949 packs. The S3 collection has been hailed as one of the best yet.
Presale tokens are secured on a multisig wallet for security reasons. Instead of leaving them on a hot wallet on Immutable X, they are stored on Ethereum and remain inactive until the strategic moment. These tokens can be used for rewards such as Golden Mint Pass airdrops or tournaments, and possibly to support token-side market liquidity when needed. Currently, they are primarily intended for OTC transactions through the store, allowing users to easily purchase tokens on IMX to complete their bets or join the VIP program.
Gameplay rework & upcoming patches
The CTA team is planning a major gameplay overhaul. This major patch will include changes to rewards and therefore game mechanics.
Development of the new gameplay is progressing well. Internal testing is already underway, and external testing will begin in early 2025 to gather feedback before the official release.
Patches 0.24 (Rewards) and 0.25 (Gameplay) will be merged to provide a smoother gameplay experience. Changes will include a repositioning of the incubator and missions, as well as a complete overhaul of the dashboard, rewards, and shop to simplify the user experience.
The final component is the overhaul of the Adventure Mode, which will be the onboarding and V1.0 patch for the TCG.
There are also plans to launch the TCG directly on the Epic Game Store in the near future.
Purity bonus
The original plan was to remove the purity bonus on November 25th. However, we have decided to keep the purity bonus (or percentage of duplicates) on cards upgraded with the old version of Crafting, giving you a bonus of up to 2% S on Awakenings.
However, the Trisel bonus and the stone discount will end on November 25th as planned.
SR cards, combinations and craft updates
A major new feature concerns SR cards: the Arkhante, Mantris, and Rift collections form a triangle of the first three Cross The Ages founding collections, with a very rare SR 39 card to be obtained. It will be introduced in Season 4 and will be created by merging the Arkhel, Rรญona, and Rift SR combo cards.
Evolving Storytelling: Seasons 4 and 5
Seasons 4 and 5 of Cross The Ages will focus more on the story, character development, and the War of Heroes that precedes the events of Volume 1. The saga will be divided into two parts, spread over these two seasons. As always, the Exclusive and Special Rare cards will be present and work in the same way.
The aim is to give the cards more meaning with the new gameplay, and they will be available in multiple languages.
Arise
Early next year, you'll be able to use your Mint Passes and Founder Packs to participate in Arise testing. These tests will allow us to gather your feedback on dungeons, weapons, and game modes to improve the game before it launches worldwide.
Our goal is to incorporate community feedback at every stage to perfect the game. Each phase will focus on a specific aspect to test and validate that is critical to the successful release of Arise.
In addition to the keyboard and mouse, we've decided to make the controller the primary peripheral to create a more immersive gaming experience.
Lands & Blockchain migration
The deployment of lands, like that of physical cards, depends on the change of the blockchain, a crucial step for CTA. As Immutable has stopped the development of the current blockchain (Immutable X), we face limitations, in particular the lack of smart contracts, which are essential for lands.
Therefore, we are working with Immutable on a transition to Immutable zkEVM while exploring other options with blockchains such as Ronin, Optimism, Soneium, Base, Arbitrum and Cronos. Our goal is to find a solution that addresses three key challenges: smart contract integration, simplified onboarding and improved liquidity.
We have also received all the physical cards from Arkhante and Mantris. However, to avoid them being associated with two separate blockchains with different technologies, we have decided to wait until the transition is fully complete before integrating them.
Portal V2 & Exchange Market
The portal will be updated with a v2 by the end of the year, offering an optimized navigation. With the change of the blockchain, account management will be simplified thanks to a 1 wallet = 1 account system and single sign-on options like Epic Games, as well as new features to be discovered gradually.
The Exchange Market will launch in late 2024 or early 2025, allowing users to buy and sell Trisel, Eternal Stones and Flex Rolls via an order book. Users will be able to set their own prices and quantities, but fees and sell order limits will apply based on their VIP level.
VIP program & Craft update
The VIP program has been enhanced with the addition of VIP level 8, which increases rewards and most importantly, allows raids to be automatically replayed without having to click Replay. This feature will be included in the crafting update and deckbuilding fixes scheduled for late October/early November.
Please note that card numbering will take place 10 days after the patch release.
Community Round Table & Erika Exclusive Card
To strengthen communication with the community, a roundtable system is being prepared. Player-elected representatives will have the opportunity to engage directly with the team in public spaces on Twitter. These exchanges will focus on strategic priorities, game development and user feedback.
The Erika map, which will initially be distributed at TGS, will be available during the Heroes Legacy event the weekend of November 30-December 1. Distribution will continue for a year, and players will have multiple opportunities to obtain the map, including events in Asia and France, and giveaways on Twitter and Discord.
