Criarunes

Artellium Parasites

To most people, Criarunes are harmless parasites who act for the greater good. To children and some adults, they are adorable little creatures that can be tamed within reason. While Criarunes do have an affectionate and docile demeanor, they are nonetheless autonomous and can choose to stay or leave a place at will. They do not seem to fear humans at all and can be very close to them, although the average citizen is more likely to encounter them by chance, around a corner.

These small creatures have a special connection to Pranah, from which they feed, and possess magical properties whose full secrets have yet to be revealed. It is known that, under certain conditions, Criarunes are able to cast spells comparable to magic. When faced with imminent danger, they quickly gather and draw symbols on the ground that resemble glyphs or runes. The magic that emanates from them is surprisingly powerful, making Criarunes incredible creatures.

To some, their powers are limitless. Others believe that they are closely linked to the ingestion of Pranah, especially the amount ingested recently. One thing everyone agrees on is that the need for Criarunes to consume Pranah, even in its derived energy forms, is a real problem on Mantris. These cute-looking creatures are real battery gobblers, and are regularly blamed for power outages and battery depletion. Criarunes' affection apparently has some effects, and not everyone likes it!
